Craniosacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle healing technique that focuses on the head, spine, sacrum, connective tissue, and nervous system. While it uses light pressure, it can profoundly release tension, pain and holding patterns that deep tissue work does not address. It is also quite effective at relieving symptoms caused by whiplash, concussions, and other traumatic injuries, as well as releasing emotional trauma that is held in the body. By working with the body’s natural intelligence, CST also induces a state in the body called a Stillpoint; a neurological reset which relaxes the body so deeply that many sources of chronic pain spontaneously vanish.

Structural Deep Tissue Massage

My approach to Structural Massage combines Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, and Energy Work into a fluid, artful modality that is both deeply relaxing and enlivening. Holistic bodywork promotes profound healing, relaxation, and release of chronic tension and pain. It re-aligns structural and postural imbalances, and gently unwinds somatic/emotional holding patterns. Each session is customized to the client’s physical, mental, and emotional needs.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese tradition of energy work with ancient roots and modern applications. Like other energetic practices such as Qigong and Tai chi, Reiki teaches us how to connect with a vast source of vitality and radiant power within us, which often lies dormant due to traumatic injuries and the stresses of daily life. A modern interpretation would say that Reiki allows us to directly connect with the healing capacities of our own nervous system, radically amplifying our ability to heal ourselves and others. Reiki involves both hands on healing as well as simple daily practices that can rapidly increase our sense of happiness and wellbeing.

Somatic Healing

Somatic Healing, like all the other types of Bodywork I offer, involves working with the structure of the body (through posture, breathing and gentle movement), the felt-experience of the body (through guided awareness practices) and safe and supportive connection (between myself and the client) to support healing and positive change. The main difference is that manual therapy like Massage uses touch as the medium for evoking change, whereas Somatic healing uses conversation.
